Socratic Seminars are by far my student's favorite activity! The very first time I do this each year, the student immediately ask when we can do it again. They love being able to take charge of the conversations and analyze text on a deeper level. Plus, it's something different!

This download includes everything I use to introduce seminars to my students:

Expectations, Goals, Etiquette: Colorful Google Slides presentation that introduces the concept of seminars and the overall goal. The slides also teach the students the basic etiquette of seminar.

Student Discussion Prompts: Since we can not assume students automatically know how to talk to each other, these prompts give them a great guide for talking respectfully to each other.

(printable PDF included. The google slides version can also be printed as a poster set!)

Reflection Prompts: After seminar have students reflect on their performance and what they learned with these 6 discussion prompts.

(printable PDF included)

Generic Discussion Questions: If you have a text, and do not know where to start, these discussion questions are a great jumping off point for conducting your seminar!
