Irony Mini Lesson
This mini lesson will help your students learn how to identify the three types of irony- situational, verbal, and dramatic. In addition, students will practice applying what they know to determine what type of irony is present in different scenarios.

Irony: The Quest Activity Pack
Irony Quests
These quests are an engaging and creative way to help your students practice and apply their knowledge of the three types of irony.
The Quests:
Quest 1: Part One- Students will determine if each example is ironic or a coincidence. Part Two-Students will create their own examples of situational irony and coincidence.
Quest 2: Students analyze images and determine what type of irony is represented. They will explain how it is represented.
Quest 3: Part One- Students will analyze Alanis Morissette’s song, “Ironic” to determine if the situations in the song are actually ironic. Part Two- Students will come up with a new title for the song.
Quest 4- Part One- Students read an informational text article and determine the type of irony represented. Part Two- Students will write an article that uses situational or dramatic irony.
Quest 5: Part One- Students will create a text message thread that contains verbal irony.
